“Love Next Door” episode 16 recap
The episode begins with Seung-Hyo and Seok-Ryu’s families sitting down for lunch together. They’re happy in each other’s company despite the slight bickering.
Dan-Ho goes to the station to pick up Mo-Eum only to be told that she’s leaving to the north pole, he’s shocked to hear this. Despite this, the two go out for a date in an amusement park and enjoy time together.
Back at the shop, Yeon-Du is being baby-sat by the aunts. Hye-Sook and Mi-Sook argue about wedding preparations jumping the gun before their kids.
Seok-Ryu gets a call from Mo-Eum to tell her she got what she wanted. She shows up to celebrate but Mo-Eum is slightly sad because she’s unable to tell Dan-Ho yet.
The next day, both Hye-Sook and Mi-Sook agree to teach each other different things with one teaching the cooking and the other teaching English. They continue to bicker through all of it.
The fathers also get together for drinks and Gyeong-Jong gifts him a camera and ends up teaching Geun-Sik how to photograph him.
On another day, Mo-Eum brings Dan-Ho family t-shirts, and he also brought her gifts. Several items to keep her strong in the winter when she goes to the North pole. He says he’s not the pathetic type who would hold back his girlfriend, she’s amazed and a bit hesitant because she has to tell Yeon Du who also supports her. They end up hugging each other like a family.
Seung-Hyo and Seok-Ryu go on a date and Seung-Hyo says they should check out the shop her dad had and who renovated it. He then reveals its a surprise for her, her dad came to him to ask him to do the renovations as a gift for his daughter. She’s so happy about this.
At the gym, Dong-Jin wrapped up studying and is about to take the exam, his coach takes him on as a his apprentice.
For the last goodbye dinner as four for a year, the two couples gather by the convenient store chatting and having fun.
The next day Mo-Eum leaves accompanied by Dan Ho who is taking her to the airport.
Before her shop opening, Seok-Ryu asks her dad to help her out and says she would pay him to be an advisor, he takes the job happily despite initially acting like he didn’t want it. Seok-Ryu also designs an app for orders.
The couple goes shopping for a wedding gown and Seok-Ryu looks stunning in the wedding dress.
They do not get married but instead organize a sort of event for Seung-Hyo’s parents, they take pictures as a family. Seok-Ryu asked him to postpone it for a year until Mo Eum gets back. She wants to work on the shop and catch up on their romance they havent had. Seung-Hyo is a bit hesitant but accepts.
The mom friends also all take photos together and enjoy their time.

Seung-Hyo and Seok-Ryu’s moms are bragging about each other’s kids and fighting as always. Dong-Jin is now a trainer and Na-Yun tries to hit on him but he’s too concentrated on the training. Mo-Eum is doing well at her job and gets a call from Dan-Ho who reveals he’s coming to see her in the North Pole to do a scope and has gotten permission. She’s very excited about it.
Seok-Ryu is doing well at her shop and Seung-Hyo is busy designing their forever home. Seung-Hyo’s mom had published a memoir, Seok-Ryu’s mother has opened a store to tell stories because she’s good at it.
Seok-Ryu closed down the shop but she’s 40 minutes late for her date with Seung-Hyo who is upset about it. They argue a bit and decide to establish a new rule when arguing, holding each other’s hands. They argue some more but then decide to visit the contractor to check out the progress of the house.

“Love Next Door” ending-review
That was sweet. Feels a bit artificial in certain places but still mostly sweet.
Also, why aren’t So Min and Hae In kissing properly? I just find it odd..
Overall, it was a good watch, could it have been better? I’d say so, yes, but also, its not terrible.
I think I just personally had a bit more high expectations of the drama. There are many great parts when it comes to the writing but also some others that feel a bit lacking.
My fav performance was by Kim Ji Eun, this is my fav performance of her entire career so far. Yun Ji-On was also too adorable. I just vibed with the 2nd couple a bit more.
