“Motel California” Ending Explained

MBC’s drama “Motel California” has come to an end, here is a recap of its 12^th and final episode!

Kang Hee breaks down in tears after finding out that Chun Pil is dying due to cancer.

She cries alot and Yeon Soo is there by her side to make sure she is ok. she talks about Chun Pil and how she used to find him burdensome and how she regrets it and hopes he doesn’t die.

Su Ji finds out he’s sick with cancer and freaks out, she arrives and hugs him tightly taklking about how its good he got insurance. Chun Pil also goes to the goverment office and officially adopts Seung Eon.

While on their way out of the motel, Kang Hee and Yeon Soo see that Seung Eon and A Reum are happily together and he’s applying lotion on her hands.

And when they leave the place to run away from it, they also see that Han Woo and Nan Woo are about to kiss and interupt them.

After the two leave, Han Woo asks if he can confess his feelings, Nan Woo says yes.

Esther met a Korean american but she’s not quite impressed with the date. Seok Gyeon tells her he’ll be by her side since he’s the godfather. She also says she’s confident she can raise the child alone.
Via a handwritten letter, Chun Pil informs the group of his intentions to sell the motel. They’re all extremely sad about this. We find out he’s scared of wanting to live and fight the cancer if this place stays as is because of all the memories it holds.
A buyer comes to check out the place, but Kang Hee shoos them away. She then suggests to remodel the place into a nursuing home for her father.

Seong Eon comes to her room and gives her money he’s left hidden away and shows her the adoption papers. He also calls her noona, he wants to help with the remodelling fees. 

Kang Hee works very hard day and night to complete the job she’s signed on to and shows Yeon Soo the results, he’s very happy with it.

She talks with Seok Gyeong and their professional relationship is officially over, she tells him she can tell he likes Esther and should go for it.

Kang Hee holds a welcoming party and invites her dad along with many other people to the place she remodelled, but he doesn’t show up.

When she goes to check up on him, he’s surrounded by the town’s people and she leaves him in their care.

As she heads back to the party, her old school mates show up and apologies to her for what they had done, she’s touched and happy.

At night, the entire friend group holds a surprise birthday party to Chun Pil who is very happy with it.

It even starts snowing after they sing him happy birthday.

Kang Hee and Yeon Soo go outside and see the snow, they lay in it and paint a house form in it. They kiss each other and look lovingly at each other talking about how much they love each other and they’re happy to be together at last.
