Netflix’s “Aema” has been unveiled earlier today. Let us recap the finale and explain the ending!

Hee-Ran meets up with a rights activist and gives him an envelope. She wants him to expose the production company for her.

Then she visits director Kwon Do-Il and he explains he would’ve loved to catch up with her in Seoul but she came to meet him in the countryside instead. He talks about her recent movie and how much it sucked but how much he loved her performance. He wants her in his next project and gave her the final draft.

Jung-Ho asks his thug partner to put a tail on Hee-Ran because he’s afraid she’d blow up the whole thing on them and make them lose everything.

Jung Ho also meets with the slimy reporter who says he pulled strings and made sure both women won awards for the movie Aema but Jung Ho says he wants to deflate Hee-Ran’s ego so he’d appreciate she does not win an award. They even coordinate an interview with the reporter so he could do whatever he wanted with Ju-ae.

Ju-ae meets with the slimy reporter who says the most horrendous sexually charged comments and even presents her old nightclub dancing outfit so he could photograph her in it while he writes about her. She tells him to close his eyes and asks if he’s ever managed to make his d-ck work properly, she gets up and then kicks him in the groins for what he’d been doing. She leaves as he yells in pain.

Hee Ran visits designer Paul Go and he says his new muse is Ju-ae and they should take a break. They fight but she cries recalling their lovely times together and says the next awards night is important for her and she’d love to be able to wear his design.

That slimy reporter ends up writing a horrible article about Ju-ae and Jung Ho confronts her and asks if she slept with anyone at her previous job, she says, ‘you disgust me,’ and leaves.

Rumors about Ju-ae’s past then spread life wildfire with photos on every newspaper.

At the award show

Hee Ran shows up wearing Paul Go’s design and Ju-ae shows up wearing her old nightclub dance outfit on a horse making a grand entrance. In the award show, neither actresses end up winning any award. However, director Kwon is presented with a life-time achievement award and invites Hee Ran with him on stage.

Back when she met him in the countryside she asked him to allow to expose Jung-ho’s production company. So she does. She exposes what Jung Ho had been doing offering actresses to wealthy people and keeping tabs on that to threaten them with it.

The rights activist friend distributes papers all over town with this as TV cuts off to block Hee Ran from speaking. Hee Ran narrowly escapes and is helped by Ju-ae who comes with her horse to save her from the men catching her.

Jun-ho, Hee Ran’s manager and the activist are all tortured and beaten up. Jung-ho’s thug friend tells him his days are over and his production company is done for.

Hee Ran makes an escape and visits a high ranking individual threatening to release a ledger with his name on it unless he cooperates and exposes the rest. He is furious but agrees to it.

Police is now expanding their investigation and even the thug friend of Jung-ho gets taken away. Eventually, both Hee Ran’s manger and the activist friend are set free.

Ju-ae says goodbye to her friend as she leaves and director Kwak cries over another version of his movie.

Year 1983

Ju-ae becomes a sensation and rises in fame in Japan. She gets interviewed and given horrible questions but she answers with grace. Hee Ran had stepped away from the limelight and even wrote a script.

On her way back to South Korea, Ju-ae is given new horrible names for movies with horrible scripts by Hee Ran’s manager who now works as her manager. She puts down the scripts quickly after reading the titles. She puts on her sunglasses and asks for wine.
