“Nine Puzzles” Ending Explained- Who Was The Killer?

Disney+ hit drama “Nine Puzzles” has concluded its run earlier today with the release of its finale. Let us recap the final episode and explain the ending!

We get a flashback of a young Lee Seung-Joo waiting for her mother at the amusement park. Then we get a flashback to 10 years ago when Yang Jung-Ho finally found her, she had changed her name. He gives her a notebook and a handkerchief. He also has to explain to her that her mother has died.

Back to the present

Ena returns home and Seung-Joo is there for her, she tells her to look back now. She does. She tells her she probably doesn’t need anymore counseling. Ena asks if she enjoyed watching her struggle to solve the puzzles, and she says not much, as it was difficult trying to keep her within enough reach but not too close.

Seung-Joo asks her to go with her to the 8^th victim’s location. As they ride, Seung-Joo takes her phone and throws it out as Hansaem calls her.

As they ride to the place, Seung-Joo reveals the handkerchief was her mother’s and this is how Yang Jung-Ho found out it was her. She reveals he went back to her and tried to convince her to stop but failed. He believes its his fault because he searched for her and informed her of what had happened to her mother.

Hansaem feels something is off and immediately goes searching for Ena to only discover she’s been kidnapped. The police search everywhere and Hansaem can tell they’re going to One City, so he follows there.

On the way, Seung-Joo reveals none of the people apologized to her before she killed them because they didn’t even remember her mother’s name.

Ena is told to go upstairs to the apartment, she finds the last puzzle and its been scribbled with dark ink over it, there is no picture. As Hansaem arrives at the location, the 8^th victim was tossed to his death and narrowly missed him. Hansaem scolds her and they go off trying to find her. He also tells her her uncle wasn’t a good person and neither were her parents, he either covered up the case of Seung-Joo’s mother death for a promotion or was paid to drop the case.

Turns out that her uncle Yoon Dong-Hoon was given 3 One city apartments that he put under her name which he then sold and bought a luxurious house before her parents died.

The duo decide to split as they search for Seung-Joo, Hansaem goes to the morgue where Yang Jung-Ho’s body is being kept, we find out that Seung Joo stayed outside and couldn’t go in. Ena goes to the amusement park and finds her there. She sees a bottle in her hands and knows she’s about to kill herself. Ena apologizes to her but Seung Joo says its not her fault.

Seung Joo says she doesn’t understand why people live to suffer and try so hard to survive. She says she doesn’t want to go on living and is tired of herself. Hansaem gets there and holds a gun to her face to arrest her, but then, Seung Joo lights the ride on fire and sits back in the place where she and her mother rode. She burns alive and screams all the way.

When later both Ena and Hansaem are interviewed, they do not elaborate. Yang Jung-Ho’s funeral gets held and Ena locks herself in her home for a couple of days.

Later, she emerges and hands in her resignation to her boss. She goes back to the amusement park and Hansaem finds her there, he tried to help her get back up but she’s leaving. He takes her back home and his mother cooks them good food.

Ena also gets interviewed by a show for the murders.

Some time later

Hansaem is called to a murder location and he sees a lot of support there because the boss believes its a bit strange. He finds a woman strangled and the blood drained from her, she’s displayed for all to see in an area that needs to be redeveloped.

Ena then shows up with a new haircut and explains why the body was displayed like that. Hansaem is happy to see her and she explains she’s gotten another puzzle piece. She shows it to him.
