“Study Group” Ending Explained

The hit kdrama “Study Group” concluded its run earlier today, so let us recap the finale and explain the ending!

The study group friends gather to decide how to protect Teacher Lee. They discuss how a teacher who wanted to hold a committee against Pi Han Ul mysteriously died a day before it happened and everyone believes its him.

Detective Na Tae-Man tries to convince Ms. Lee to escape but she refuses. He says he’ll try his best to protect her until tomorrow comes but he’s anxious. At night, Ms. Lee gets a call from the vice president saying he has important information on how Pi Han Ul’s dad launders money and uses the school as a play ground and such. This is Pi Han Ul’s playground and he has a lot of interest in keeping it running as is because it also affects his future in his father’s company too.

She shows up to the school. The detective is also there. She decides to meet with the vice president and he explains some things in voice recording but after they wrap up discussion, the lights go off and the vice president runs away.

As the teacher also tries to run away, she’s confronted by the Yeonbaek Gang. Then, luckily, we find out our study group has been studying the teacher’s movements to protect her at all cost and have been keeping tabs on everything.

The students tell the teacher to run away as they delay it. Ga-Min also confronts Pi Han Ul. As the students confront other students, things get tense and it seems our team is being beaten up badly. Se Hyeon gets beaten up and shot at by Min-Hwan but we find out he learned how to fight in private and stuck to basics, he manages to knock him out eventually.

So do all the other students.

Now onto, Ga-Min and Pi Han Ul. We find out that Ga-min is not using all of his power because he’s trying to delay until the teacher escapes. Unfortunately, Pi Han Ul already had sent gangs after her, but we find out that Kim Gyu-Jin and his gang also joined in on the fight because the teacher took a stab for one of them. Thus, the teacher escapes.

Pi Han Ul angers Ga-Min with what he said and eventually, Ga-Min delivers a bunch of superhuman super strong punches and knocks him out but not before injuring his leg badly too.

The next day comes and a committee is held, Pi Han Ul is effectively expelled. As he leaves, police arrives and arrest him using voice recording of himself admitting he did something to that teacher. As he leaves, he tells Ga-min to try and change the school if he can. The ex-vice president is also arrested.

Things get much better after some time passes and school is now much better. Everyone has been asked to remove the app from their phones before entering and Miss Lee also gives the students the final schedule.

The students talk among themselves about what they want to be. Se Hyeon has not decided yet, Lee Joon wants to be a firefighter and Hee-Won wants to code. Meanwhile, Ga-Min wants to be able to attend college.

In voiceover, Ga-Min laments on how difficult it is for some to change as some will go backwards when confronted with it. Geon-Yeob gets accepted into an internship. Hyun-Woo picks up a job and tries to repair his relationship with his sister and such. However, Pi Han Ul’s dad sort of disposes of his son as the attorney requests to see him about his issues, he tells his secretary to just handle the case.

The ending scene zooms in on Ga-Min’s face as he says, ‘this is Yuseong Technical High School. Our college entrance journey continues.’
