“The Legend Of Kitchen Soldier” episode 12
The Ganglim post soldiers all depart the base as it shuts down. Meanwhile, our trio realize they tied first place with Officers’ Mess Hall. The judges decide to hold a one-on-one competition to decide on the winner. Because he did not win the battle, Seong-Jae loses his ability to see the stats screen and it shuts down.
He panics badly as he steps forward and stumbles on his words. He struggles to pick ingredients and to decide on what to cook thinking he lost all of his skills. However, as the challenge goes on, he regains that confidence slowly remembering everything he was taught and all of the lessons he learned through various cooking challenges. He ends up delivering a very home-made essential Korean dish.

The judges scoff and taste the other team’s cooking and are wowed by it. When they reach his plate, they mock his presentation which seemed rather ordinary. He clarifies he feels it is a special meal made at home.
The judges taste it and shed tears recalling their mom cooking them the food. Ultimately, they are awarded the winners. Seong-Jae takes this chance to explain to the judges their post is being shut down.
As they’re revealing this, Seok-Ho makes an entrance and exposes the corruption of Baek Chun-ik. Then, Park Jae-Young shows up and arrests him on the spot for his various crimes which he denies boldly.
Seok-Ho reveals that Battalion Commander Baek Chun-ik attempted to disband the personnel at Ganglim Outpost who raised issues regarding the corrupt food supplier and confirmed that the same company had essentially continued the contract under a different name, and that Major Im Seung-bin, who died a year ago while under investigation for corruption charges, was also unjustly framed.

Seok-ho had been working to secure evidence of the corruption while Seong Jae was participating in a cooking competition. With the help of Company Sergeant Park Jae-young , he collected relevant data and even secured a statement from Support Section Chief Lee Min-gu, ultimately uncovering Baek Chun-ik’s corruption.
The members at the outpost welcome back the victorious team and celebrate with the same home cooked meal by Seong Jae. They prepare a tofu cake as a discharge gift for Dong-Hyun who sheds tears during the celebration.
For his efforts, Seong Jae gets interviewed by Min-A. He then ends up holding her hands saying he’s finally found the courage and would like to start dating her, both smile brightly.
As he gets into the hall again, the screen shows him a new quest titled “The Beginning of a Legend.” His goal is now to become a cook recognized even in the officers’ mess hall. Upon seeing the new quest, Seong-jae smiles brightly, foreshadowing the start of another period of growth and challenge.

“The Legend Of Kitchen Soldier” ending review
That was such a cute drama, truly. Its been a while since I’ve seen such a cute kdrama. Park Ji Hoon is, again, phenomenal in his acting. The emotions he can convey with his eyes are enough to make the coldest of hearts melt.
I absolutely loved the ending and wish to see a second season. I think it would be another great one.
Rising actor Lee Hong-Nae shines here. He often plays bad guys roles due to his sharp visuals but he caught my attention a long time ago. I believe I started paying attention to him around 2020 or 2021. He’s been in the industry for so long and deserves even more attention. He needs the right role and he’ll surely blow up, I feel he’ll see that soon. This drama was a great start to put him on the map of many kdrama fans.
Again, this was such a great drama. Thank you to the cast and crew of “The Legend Of Kitchen Soldier” for lifting up my mood.
