Seo-In sends his wife Tae-Young a letter saying he’ll write his novel and assuring her he’s doing fine. Tae-Young finds out about the quarantine issue that persists and finds the only way to escape is by pretending to have it. She goes to the village where they are being treated to find out what Bak Jun Gi is hiding.

The place is a mess and people are in pain. There, she finds Yun Gyeom alive and well, she discovers he’s lost his voice and he’s now dealing with a heart disease and will die soon.

Lady Kim So-Hye confronts Bak Jun Gi about his horrible actions and how she was a hostage, and they discuss how Tae-Young is rushing to her death because she couldn’t possibly be infected.

Tae-Young slowly discovers its all about money and the rations that were supposed to arrive are being taken by Bak Jun Gi. Do Gyeom also shows up to offer help and reunites with Tae-Young. He also finds out that Yun Gyeom is alive and beats him up a bit about what he’d done to his brother.

The people in the village find out that the disease is not being transmitted and its not transmitted by touch or what not so they become doubtful.

As sources close in on Bak Jun Gi, he retreats to cut his losses and Provincial Governor Heo Jong-Mun’s men are on his tail, they know the disease is a bit odd but have to backing evidence.

While the villagers are being treated, Do Gyeom is given what was essentially a pill to help with pain and what not, but he becomes sick himself. As they see this happening, they figure out Bak Jun Gi must have been infecting people with medicine laced with something and poisoning them to death to create an issue so he can profit. This medicine was supposed to help people who suffer from pain and anyone who took it, became a mess or ended up dead.

Lady Kim So-Hye threatens Bak Jun Gi and tells him to continue doing this and to burn the village so when they investigate they find nothing.

There is a herb that can cure this illness but they don’t have it there, they discuss how to get there and Yun Gyeom decides to go there himself to get the herb because everyone will die at this rate. But, Bak Jun Gi arrives and says he’s burning down the village on the king’s orders because they think its being transmitted by air.

As Provincial Governor Heo Jong-Mun and his men are discussing the situation, Yun Gyeom makes it to them and explains whats the issue and the herb to fix it.

The next day, in the morning, they go to capture Bak Jun Gi and his concubine. They discover the medicine he’s been cooking and what he’s doing. They also discover that Seo-In died in prison unable to withstand it.

Tae-Young stands before the Provincial Governor and pleads for the people because they’ve been suffering due to various situations. We also find out many people were advocating for her crimes to be withdrawn and had been pleading with the king and such.

She also is asked why she’s not pleading for anything for herself and says she has no grievance. She receives a royal decree and is exempted from her punishment considering her good deeds. She’s no longer a slave.

Kim So-Hye gets relegated to the lowest rank as a servant and Bak Jun Gi gets tortured for his horrible crimes. Tae-Young reunites with her long lost father at last.

3 years later

Tae-Young now has a son named Man Seok. We find out that Seo-In didn’t in fact die but Yun Gyeom took his place and pleaded with him to leave so he can die in his place, it was his last wish and he wished to fulfill his last promise to them.

Seo-In completes his novel after 3 years and the family is now full and happy, they live by the sea with her father and cute son.
