Netflix has released all 8 episodes of “The Trauma Code: Heroes On Call” earlier today, let us recap the 8^th and final episode!

The team, currently in Sudan, is discussing the patient’s condition because its getting bad fast, Kang-Hyuk decides to drive and soldiers open fire. However, their chief sees the face of the driver and recognizes him, he’s Malak, so he tells them to halt.

The team gets safe to the hospital and begin operating on the patient. The chief who stopped the soldiers from shooting talks about how talented he is and how he’s gonna save the patient. And he does.

We find out the place they’re in is where Kang-Hyuk used to work. Kang-Hyuk talks to the chief and asks for a ride back to Seoul, and he obliges because many of the soldiers owe him their lives.

The team travels back in a private jet, but before they get on the place, Jang-Mi confronts Gyeong-Won who easily admits he’s the spy for director Choi. She tells him he’s now responsible for all the emergency surgeries and she won’t tell Kang-Hyuk, he agrees.

When she pushes further, he explains that he agreed to do it because they might find another one who actually wants to spy on the team.

The team arrives in Seoul at night surrounded by reporters, Dr. Baek talks to Kim Myeong-Hui who promises to hold her end of the conversation regarding helicopters. The team is given a good welcome.

However, as they’re talking about transferring the patient and what not, they find out there has been a fire and Dr. Han went there.

Kang-Hyuk abandons the team and goes to the fire location, he assists to the best of his abilities and Dr. Han is very happy to see him. The firefighter tells Kang-Hyuk that there is a place that fills oxygen tanks and they must evacuate to avoid injuries, everyone does but he sees a patient still there on the ground, as he goes to fetch him an explosion happens and he’s badly injured.

He barely stays conscious to tell Jae-Won its up to him. He’s injured badly and something went inside him causing issues, Jae-Won is faced with a dilemma, should he get a CT scan or go into surgery. He decides to go into surgery. Gyeong-Won is not exactly thrilled with this and confronts him but eventually they agree to proceed with the surgery and save him.

When he wakes up, Jae-Won rushes to the scene. Kang-Hyuk seems to be doing just fine and inquires about why he went to surgery, he explains why and Kang-Hyuk praises him, he calls him by his real name to which Jae Won says, ‘FUCK, YES!’ The team rushes inside and checks to see if Kang-Hyuk is okay.

Kang-Hyuk does interview with the press about why they need helicopters to save trauma patients. However, director Choi is still not impressed. The two arrange a meeting and Director Choi insists he got in through favoritism and they will hold a meeting to dismiss him and is angry asking why he chose this hospital to be precise.

Kang-Hyuk admits he became a doctor because of Director Choi who never gave up on his dad even when he arrived at the same hospital 24 years ago in a bad state. Because of director Choi, Kang-Hyuk wanted to also save lives. director Choi is left stunned by this and ultimately approves the material to aid with the helicopters.

After that, reporters and such are at the reveal of the new helicopters and the Director shows up as well as Kim Myeong-Hui. However, he didn’t show up because he was at a conference. There, he and Jae-Won are attempting to recruit doctors for their trauma center. They meet some resistance and see Dong Ju from South Sudan when they went there, he asks what he can gain if he joins and Kang-Hyuk says the ability to save patients.

Jae-Won also calls Kang-Hyuk number two and he’s happy he’s joining. Because the conference concluded, Kang-Hyuk shows up to give a speech in his own boastful fashion. However, in the middle of it, he receives a call about a patient and tells everyone to step away because he’s about to deploy the helicopter and show them why they matter.

In the meantime, Jang-Mi tells Gyeong-Won he should probably ask for Kang Hyuk’s permission for his autobiography but he says he’s launching a webtoon with it next week.

The team departs in the helicopter. The end.

That was cute. A well-made drama.

I’ve been hearing a lot about Choo Yeong-Woo and how he’s the next A-lister and honestly, I see it. He’s definitely poised to becoming the next big thing this year. I remember in 2023 I saw his performance in Oasis and I wasn’t impressed, I felt he needed more practice at the time, and it seems he’s improved a lot since then because his performance here was miles better.

I can tell a lot of effort went into the drama, I don’t know to what degree this drama will be a hit domestically and internationally, but I wish the best for the team.
