“Undercover High School” Ending Explained

“Undercover High School” aired its finale earlier today, here is a recap of its ending!

The episode begins with Hae-Seong being injured in the car with his dead director. He barely stumbles and walks until he finds a phone booth. There, he calls for Soo-A to come get him. She takes him to a motel and cares for him. Meanwhile, police is hunting him down thinking he’s the one who killed the director, there is a warrant out for his arrest.

Seo Myeong-Joo is summoned for an emergency meeting, she’s told she needs to resign but refuses and dares them to go through with it.

At the motel, the trio barely sneak in and we find out that Mi-Jung copied the recording of Hae-Seong talking to the director, but she managed to copy it and hide it in the house. But someone must go to retrieve it, as they fight about who should go, they’re reported and police is on their tale. Hae-Seong barely manages to escape but is hit with a car during the chase.

He then calls agent Kong Jin-Sang and he brings him the USB.

As Soo-A hangs protest of Myeong-Joo’s actions, she confronts her. Myeong-Joo says she will not push through with it if she resigns, and she agrees.

Hae-Seong turns himself in and plays the recording, and we find out that the recording of Hae-Seong’s conversation with the director also included his murder being caught on tape. An arrest warrant is then issued for both Myeong-Joo and her righthand man.

Myeong-Joo gathers the kids at school and announces the scrap of the original plans she had, but Yoo-Jung who accidentally heard her fire Soo-A confronts her and soon the entire school does too. Soo-A shows up to see the students support for her and as that happens and as Myeong-Joo is losing her mind, her assistant tells her there is an arrest warrant out for them both. He takes Ye Na and escapes while Myeong-Joo calls Hae-Seong and says something about how he’d never catch her.

Hae-Seong barely makes it in time. Myeong-Joo turns on the sprinklers and they douse the students with gasoline and she wants to light them all on fire. Hae-Seong barely manages to convince her not to light them on fire as Ye Na returns and sees her mother in this crazy state.

Hae-Seong tells her she should just stop and she’s not convinced, but because he handed his gun to her, she then tries to shoot herself. Soo A interferes and stops her while Hae-Seong catches the lighter.

Hae-Seong then collapses and is hospitalized for the accident he’d been in recently. After he wakes up, he learns Myeong-Joo’s assistant is taking all the blame so he goes and sees him. He tells him to re-think it and re-think whats actually best for Myeong-Joo.

Ultimately, he testifies against her in court and she loses her mind. She is ultimately convicted of the various crimes and gets life in prison. Ye Na comes visit her and she cries, she says she loves her but will need time to understand her and she will drop out and re-start from the ground up, as she leaves Myeong-Joo breaks down in tears.

Hae-Seong comes to say goodbye to the kids who are a bit traumatized from the recent events, they play it cold but as he leaves they all fly paper planes thanking him for being there for them.

Hae-Seong decides to move from his home but before, he meets with Soo A for lunch and she talks about how she feels his dad left him clues. He recalls the stars he put on the walls for him and sees one on the ground, he then opens it and sees his dad left him the gold there. He calls his boss, he has completed the mission.

5 years later

Su A gets her teacher certificate and we find out that Dong Min wrote a web novel called ‘undercover high school.’ Yoo-Jung wants to join the NIS and Ye Na now works as an artist. Ahn Seok-Ho becomes a director and because Go Young-Hoon gave up on pursuing Park Mi-Jung, she falls for him and they begin dating.

The team meets for a dinner and we find out that Go Young-Hoon and Seok-Ho are now engaged.

As Su A and Hae-Seong watch the skies and the stars, he asks her to close her eyes and presents her with a ring, then they kiss.

The last scene of “Undercover High School” shows Hae-Seong putting down his teacher’s notes, he’s now the homerun teacher of a class.
