“Would You Marry Me” has aired its finale earlier today. Here is a recap of it and its ending explained!

“Would You Marry Me” episode 12 recap

Sang-Hyun and Sung-Woo discuss the fallout from the Seoul’s mayor issue and Sung-Woo tells Sang-hyun he must take the fall since everything is in his name. Giving him one last chance, Sang-hyun asks if he’s ever considered him a friend and he says of course, but, he doesn’t mean it and follows it up with horrible remarks.

Woo Joo attempts to hold a press conference and sends out emails to reporters and as he’s practicing, Sung-Woo gets wind of it and tells his lawyers team to get on it. They tell him if he goes through with this he’s getting sued regardless of whether its true or not. Me Ri sees him collapsing at the prospect and he begs her to do something about it.

Sang-Hyun gets questioned by police and exposes Sung-Woo completely causing him to melt down.

On another day, Me Ri submits the divorce papers and Woo Joo picks her up. They pack everything left and leave the place. Despite the company calling her and attempting to settle it and give it to her, she explains she cannot take it and she’s sorry.

Sang-Hyun meets up with Jin-Gyeong who is worried about him. He explains he listened to her and will take accountability for the things he’d done only.

After Woo Joo’s grandma gets discharged, she asks to meet up. Then, the other Woo Joo’s parents see him with a reporter who is asking him if he’s on a blind date. The reporter is asking why the press conference was canceled and he cracks and tells his family. Then, they get the brilliant idea to visit Woo Joo’s grandma and expose Meri.

The grandma is shocked by what he heard and does not see Meri despite agreeing on it. Meri then is told by the other Woo Joo who apologizes for what his parent did. After Meri’s mother finds out about this, she comes to Seoul and handles the mother herself, the two get into a big fight for what happened.

On a morning, Sang-Hyun meets up with Jin-Gyeong again and the two run together as he explains he’s going to jail soon and asks her to take care of his turtles.

On a different date between Woo Joo and Meri, she overhears him talking to his grandma and gets confused that its about her. He seeks her at night and proposes to her with a ring his grandma gave him. He explains his grandma needs more time but she does not disapprove of her. He asks for her hands in marriage and she agrees.

After that, the grandma meets Meri and we discover she sets the aunt to go see her mother and they loved her. The couple delay their wedding a bit because Woo Joo is now the CEO of his grandma’s company too.

In Jail, Sang-Hyun receives regular letters from Jin-Gyeong who updates him on his turtles and herself.

1 year later

at a beautiful garden, Meri and Woo Joo’s wedding is being held. We find out that Sang-Hyun was released from jail and came as Jin-Gyeong’s date. And that Meri’s mother shop went viral and she’s doing really well.

The couple wed in front of their loved ones recalling the moments leading up to it. The two walking down the aisle as a couple.

“Would You Marry Me” ending explained- review

The drama was average and overall nice. I hated the addition of the unnecessary past connection, a trope thats plaguing the entirety of the kdrama writer’s community, but complaining about it at this point seems useless.

I found the chemistry between the leads not always there, like there is a layer of awkwardness I feel on screen but I could be the only one who felt it. I don’t mean between the characters only, but the actors themselves too. Maybe its the direction too. I didn’t think they were bad together but I’ve seen So Min have better chemistry with other male leads.

The story itself was fine and I found it odd they introduced such a massive plot point at the end of episode 11. Having that ex-husband attempt to blow up the cover like that seems very plausible but I would’ve loved if it was tackled a bit earlier on in the series. It seems sort of a big thing to introduce in your last episode to only resolve it like 2 minutes later but I get it, they need some sort of action going into the last episode that keeps the engagement up.

Overall, cute. I really liked rising actor Bae Na-Ra’s performance. He has a bright future ahead of him if he chooses the right projects in the near future. I can see him shining brightly in 2026 if he’s got any good upcoming projects.
