PSY’s Agency Addresses Allegations of Receiving Medication Via Proxy After Viral Report Alleges Illegal Activity
Singer PSY apologized after a viral report by KBS.
Agency P Nation on the 28th of August apologized via an official statement after a viral report the night before pointed at PSY.
The viral report was first revealed by KBS. According to KBS, from 2022 until recently, A [PSY] without face-to-face medical treatment consistently received prescription at the general hospital where B is, for anti-anxiety medicine Xanax and sleeping medicine Stilnox, and the manager instead received them.
On the 27th, Seoul Seodaemun Police Station revealed that it booked on suspicion of violation of medical law famous singer A and professor B, a doctor of a university hospital in Seoul.
The police seized and searched the hospital in order to secure A’s medical records.
Xanax and Stilnox are psychotropic medicines used in treatment of anxiety disorder, depression, and sleep disorder. Because dependence is high, it is only allowed to be prescribed after the doctor directly examines the patient.
The current medical law in principle prohibits a person other than the patient himself from receiving the prescription, and if violating this, one can be sentenced to imprisonment of not more than 1 year or a fine of not more than 10 million won.
Accordingly, claims came out that A’s identity is PSY, and PSY’s side quickly admitted the mistake and bowed their head in apology. However, they made it clear that it was proxy receipt, not illegal prescription of medicine.

Singer PSY has been diagnosed with chronic sleep disorder, and has been taking sleeping pills according to the prescription by medical staff.
The taking of sleeping pills has been done under the guidance of medical staff, receiving prescription of a set dosage and taking it, and there was no proxy prescription.
In that process, there were cases where a third party proxy received the sleeping pills, and recently the police investigation is in progress.
Once again, we are sorry for causing concern.
