RIIZE’s Official Twitter/X Account Loses Over 70,000 Followers After Seunghan’s Withdrawal
RIIZE’s official SNS accounts are suffering losses in followers due to the recent debacle!
SM has been getting a lot of heat for the handling of Seunghan’s return and ultimate departure from RIIZE. And while Korean fans have generally reacted positively to the departure of Seunghan, many international fans felt it was handled horribly and that the idol’s dreams were squashed by SM’s handling of the situation.
To demonstrate their fury, many international RIIZE fans announced their intentions to boycott RIIZE or to stop following their SNS accounts in an attempt to have SM address the situation further.
On Twitter, before the whole situation went down, RIIZE’s official account had around 809,000 followers, and as of this writing [October 15 KST], the account sits at around 738,000 followers. This means that RIIZE’s official Twitter/X lost around 70,000 followers since the incident occurred.
Previously, on the 11th, SM Entertainment issued an official statement announcing Seunghan’s return to the group. He later posted a handwritten letter on the fan communication platform Weverse. In the letter, he expressed regret, stating, “When the pre-debut photos were revealed, I was disappointed in myself and felt regret. During that time, the members reached out to me again. It must have been a difficult decision for them, and I’m only filled with gratitude and guilt.”
However, Korean fans soon expressed their opposition to re-adding him to the group, they began sending death flower wreaths to SM’s building. The situation was so bad that over 1000 wreaths were at the site. Wonbin attempted to calm down fans and stand up for Seunghan but his letter was poorly received by K-fans.
Then, two days later, SM announced that he’s leaving the group and the idol himself also confirmed this via a handwritten letter to fans saying he doesn’t want to cause any more harm to the group.
