Former BIGBANG member Seungri (36, real name Lee Seung Hyun) is reportedly already legally married to a woman in her 20s, and the two will become parents early next year.

On October 27, claims were made that Seungri’s girlfriend is pregnant and that the couple plans to hold their wedding after she gives birth to a son in January next year. However, on October 28, Seungri told an outlet that he has already registered his marriage with the non-celebrity woman in her 20s and that the two are now a legally married couple.

He also drew a line on the claims raised by some that it was a “pregnancy before marriage,” saying that they are not true. Seungri said he feels a heavy sense of responsibility now that he is responsible for a family. He also reiterated his apology for the disappointment and hurt he caused the public with the mistakes he made in the past.

The couple has reportedly settled in Gangnam, Seoul, and is focusing on prenatal care and preparing for the birth. They are reportedly not considering a separate wedding ceremony for now.

Before the news of his marriage and pregnancy, Seungri was sued on charges of aggravated assault. Mr. A, a man in his 30s, filed a complaint against Seungri at the Seoul Gangnam Police Station in August. Mr. A claimed that he was assaulted, threatened, and confined by Seungri’s group at a restaurant in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul. Afterward, CCTV footage from the restaurant at the time of the incident was released through JTBC. The footage reportedly shows Seungri picking up a soju bottle from the table and extending or swinging his arm toward Mr. A, as well as what appears to be him kicking something with his foot. Mr. A claimed that Seungri threatened him by swinging the soju bottle and mentioning his ties to gangsters.

On the other hand, Seungri’s lawyer admitted that he held the soju bottle but stated that there was no physical contact, assault, or threat at all, fully denying the charges and saying that he will cooperate sincerely with the investigation.

Seungri debuted with the group BIGBANG in 2006 and was also active as a solo singer. However, in 2019 he was named as a key figure in the “Burning Sun Gate” scandal, and he left the group and announced his retirement from the entertainment industry. He was later sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison on charges including arranging prostitution, habitual gambling, and instigating aggravated assault, and was released in February 2023 after serving his full term. After his release, he has continued his activities mainly overseas.
