“People Are Really Scary,” THE BOYZ’s Sunwoo Issues 2nd Statement Over His Airpods Attitude Controversy
After being under fire for his attitude, THE BOYZ’s Sunwoo has issued a 2nd response to the fans and netizens!
Previously, we reported that a recent video of THE BOYZ’s Sunwoo went viral with people calling his attitude into question. In the video, Sunwoo dropped his wireless earphones and shouted, “My AirPods!” then a bodyguard picked them up, and Sunwoo received the earphones using one hand. This triggered backlash against the idol with many calling into question his manners.
Initially, Sunwoo did address it and explained, “I was trying to find the airpods with my eyes but couldn’t, so I received it when someone picked it up for me, and in that moment, I didn’t bow my head but did say ‘thank you. Even when someone holds the door open for me or anything like that, I always make sure to say thank you.”
He said, “I can’t keep explaining everything forever, but if it looked that way, then that’s my fault and I acknowledge it,” and added, “I’ll continue to act well so that unfair stories like this don’t come out. I’m polite even to the people who clean at music shows and other places.”
However, despite his explanation, the backlash didn’t die down. Added to this, famous idol-actress Nana also commented on the viral video and said, “he needs to be scolded,” and when she faced backlash from his fans, doubled down on her comments adding fuel to the fire.
As the situation intensified partially due to Nana’s comments, Sunwoo expressed immense frustration in a post he published today to a fan communication platform.
In the post he writes, “But seriously, I never act like that from behind either. With all the fans in front of me, do you really think I’d be crazy enough to shout at a security guard to pick up my AirPod? I was really speechless. I was trying to reflect on how it looked, but to be getting cursed out like this just for speaking my mind about those who are crossing the line with malicious comments — people are really scary. There should be a limit. Should I just keep my mouth shut and move on? If I don’t speak, it feels like things will rot and fester, so I’ll say it. There are probably some THE B [the fandom name] who don’t like even this kind of response, and to them I’m truly sorry.”
He added, “And a promise to THE B. I’ll try harder to act in a way that people can say ‘He’s a gentleman~’ just by seeing me briefly, so THE B won’t have to explain or defend me. I really think this is something I need to fix and continue to improve!”
He ended with, “Anyway, I’m used to getting cursed at, so seriously, stop worrying about me! I’m really fine! They might be upset, but THE B, who have seen me for years, know me better than people who saw me for just a few seconds.”
