2018 is already shaping out to be a better year than 2017. This year, it seems to be the trend to reveal you’re dating.
Celebrities dating in South Korea can be troublesome or frowned upon, but these celebrities are turning things around and breaking all the unspoken rules.

Han Areum and Lee Seung Jae
This new couple has only confirmed their relationship today.
It was the former T-ara member Han Areum herself who confirmed the news. She revealed to the entire world that she was dating rookie actor Lee Seung Jae.
Han Areum uploaded various selfies to her Instagram account and wrote the following caption,
“We met back in 2017, going through rough times, I also experienced a major life crisis. I didn’t have anywhere to lean on while filming, despite the fact that it was difficult, thank you for giving me strength, getting angry for me, and being by my side to the end.
I will work hard to live well and become a woman that can also give you happiness. Thank you for being born.”
The former T-ara member recently participated in the survival program “The Unit,” she was eliminated on January 6 episode.
Lee Joon and Jung So Min
The powerful duo of “My Father Is Strange” turned out to be an actual couple.
On the first day of Janaury, TV Report stated that Lee Joon and Jung So Min are currently dating each other, the report claimed that they had enjoyed a sweet date together back on December 29, 2017.
Lee Joon had reportedly spent the majority of his five-day leave with Jung So Min, the couple went to a department store in Pangyo and even picked scarves for each other before heading out to eat dinner together.
The two actors had met on the set of the popular KBS weekend drama “My Father Is Strange,” the drama came to an end back in August 2017. Jung So Min became known for her romantic comedy roles while Lee Joon was recognized for his talent as an actor.
Jung So Min later appeared in the popular tvN drama “Because This Is My First Life,” while Lee Joon enlisted in the military back in October 2017, he received a commendation during basic training for his high marks.
After the initial reports came out, the couple confirmed that they were indeed dating.
Jung So Min’s agency Jellyfish Entertainment released a statement,
“Jung So Min met Lee Joon on the set of ‘My Father Is Strange,’ they began dating back in October. We would be grateful if everyone would watch over them warmly.”
Lee Joon’s agency Prain TPC also released a statement that reads,
“Lee Joon is currently dating Jung So Min, who he met on the set of ‘My Father Is Strange.’ They began dating in October and are very supportive of each other. Lee Joon is planning on resting well before he heads back to the army after his break ends.”
Dispatch has also released a couple of photos of Lee Joon and Jung So Min most recent date, they were one of Dispatch’s first couple to be revealed on the first of January.

Mblaq G.O and Choi Ye Seul
On January 2nd, various news reports claimed that Mblaq’s G.O and actress Choi Ye Seul have been dating for five months. It was reported that Mblaq’s G.O is actually quite close to actress Choi Ye Seul’s family, he sees them frequently.
Choi Ye Seul is best known for he roles in “Angry Mom” and “My Mom,” she has been away from the spotlight for a while, while Mblaq’s G.O is currently fulfilling his mandatory military service requirement, he had enlisted back in February 2016.
According to various reports, the couple enjoy going out on dates whenever they can see each other and had even travelled to Japan back in November 2017, and had also spent their Christmas together.

Later, Mblaq’s G.O took to his Instagram account to confirm the news himself. In his personal letter he revealed that he was planning on revealing the news themselves in the near future, he joked around that he hated the picture they used of him when covering the news.
He went on to explain that actress Choi Ye Seul has accepted him and loved him for the way he is, he thanked fans who congratulated him, and asked for their understanding of his actions.
Gdragon And Jooyeon
The second couple of January 1st. The couple that Dispatch knew would never be confirmed by anyone, nevertheless, released photos claiming they were dating.
According to Dispatch, idols Gdragon and Jooyeon are actually dating contrary to previous reports by the idols agencies.
Dispatch has released photos of the couple trip to Jeju Island together, they had traveled there separately but united in the island, they stayed there for four days.
This is not the alleged couple first time under the spotlight, the two were previously rumored to be dating after a video of them together went viral back in November.
Back then both agencies denied that they were dating, they simply stated that the two were friends and enjoyed their vacation in Hawaii together with other friends.
After the newly released photos by Dispatch went viral, both agencies, YG Entertainment and Better Ent said they would release a statement after speaking to their artists first.
Following that statement from YG Entertainment nothing was heard. The agency never confirmed or denied the news.
It is a widely known secret in the Kpop community that Gdragon and Jooyeon are actually going out together. Their Instagram posts, and the rumors surrounding them, makes it very difficult to believe they’re just ‘friends.’
But it seems like Gdragon would rather keep this to himself, the real reason why he has never been confirmed to be dating anyone ever might never be found out.

Jang Hyun Seung and Shin Soo Ji
The former Beast member was rumored to be dating rhythmic gymnast-turned-professional bowler Shin Soo Ji!
On January 5, an industry insider revealed that the two got close when they met while bowling, the two were spotted being lovey dovey while in bowling alley.
According to a source from Jang Hyun Seung, the two have been dating for three to four months. In response to that, initially, Cube Entertainment said they’d check with the idol before confirming or denying the news.
Later, Cub Entertainment and Shin Soo Ji’s agency both confirmed the two were indeed dating, both agencies stated that they have been dating for approximately four months.
Fans were taken back by the news but were also happy for their idol Jang Hyun Seung found love.
Shin Soo Ji is a formal member of the rhythmic gymnastics national team, she participated in “2008 Beijing Olympic Games” and “2010 Guangzhou Asian Games,” she retired back in 2011 due to an ankle injury.

On January 4, FTISLAND’s drummer and youngest member Minhwan shocked his fans when he announced he’s getting married to his girlfriend Yulhee, a former LABOUM member.
He took to Instagram to officially announce the news himself, he said,
“Hello, this is Choi Minhwan.
I am writing this letter so I can share the news with you first officially.”
He explained how he found love through his girlfriend and how they relied on each other for emotional support, he then revealed that he was getting married to Yulhee.
He revealed that his members congratulated him on his upcoming marriage. He promised to give back to fans, he was both thankful and happy to be sharing the news.
After he revealed the news himself his agency confirmed his statement, further details shall be revealed at a later stage.
After the news spread, various news outlets reported that the couple has been preparing for marriage since late 2017 because Yulhee is pregnant, this sparked many rumors and theories.
A source from Yulhee’s previous agency Global H Media explained that the idol has left her group and said that she didn’t want to be an idol anymore. Neither the agency nor her manager knew she was getting married.
Yulhee had terminated her contract with her agency back in November last year. The two have confirmed they were dating in September last year.
Later a source from FNC Entertainment, Minhwan’s agency revealed that they’re currently checking with Minhwan, they were very careful about releasing statements since it has to do with the couple’s private lives.

The second and most recent celebrity couple to tie the knot in 2018 is comedians Kim Min Gi and Hong Yoon Hwa
The couple had finally decided on a wedding date. The two have been together for eight years.
Their families have met last month, they set the date in November. The couple has always publicly expressed their love for each other.
In an interview with Korean news outlet Sport Chosun, Kim Min Gi confirmed that the two are getting married in November and that they’re currently searching for the right place.
He also added that their parents had met back in December 2017, he described the process as ‘easy-going,’ he revealed that they wanted to get married earlier this year but have decided to wed in November to be fully ready.
He concluded,
“Hong Yoon Hwa is a woman who cares about me, she gives me her everything. I will be a loving and caring husband for the rest of my life.
I have not yet made a proposal, but she is expecting quite a bit, so I am a little burdened.”
