Netflix’s “Karma” Ending Explained

The episode begins with the witness dousing Park Jae-Yeong in gasoline. He tells him he’s now him and will assume his identity. He sets him on fire killing him but as he’s leaving the scene, one part of the building explodes and he gets badly hit and falls into another floor. He gets up unable to leave due to the weight on him, in the process, he also gets burned.

Jung Min talks to his wife Joo-Yeon at the hospital and he can tell she’s very upset seeing Park Jae-Yeong, she assures him she’s fine but he knows she’s not.

The private detective calls Joo-Yeon after he gets wired 3 million won, she wants him to do her a favor. She takes out fentanyl and the private detective tricks him and hands him the fake pain killer.

Meanwhile, the insurance company calls the fake Park Jae-Yeong and tells him the insurance will be paid out but not to him, to the church. He’s livid.

He goes to the church confronting the sister and lashes out, he says he’ll be back. There, he sees Joo-Yeon glaring at him, he says she’s crazy and leaves, as he leaves he takes the pain killers and starts to feel drowsy.

He passes by the same street where he killed Park Jae-Yeong’s father. He laughs at the irony and as he walks, Joo-Yeon appears before him, she’s this close to killing him. He admits to her he’s not the real Park Jae-Yeong but she doesn’t believe him, as she’s about to stab him, her husband shows up telling her not to do it, she beats up Park Jae-Yeong a bit and leaves the scene with her husband.

In the car ride, Jung Min takes a call about a relative who needs help, Joo-Yeon tells him he should go and help out, so he leaves her and goes.

Meanwhile, the police is investigating the crime at that abandoned building and spot inconsistency in his testimony, they call him to testify again and he says he’s at home.

At the same time, as he goes back home and takes this call, he knows he’s screwed so he begins to pack, as he’s packing, he discovers Joo-Yeon’s school brochure and recalls he was the one who told Yoo-Jeong how to get men to r-pe Joo-Yeon, again, he laughs at the coincidence.

The police gets to his house but he escaped. In that time same, they compare DNA from what they have at the scene.

On the fake Park Jae-Yeong’s phone, he gets a notification that today is D day and laughs thinking its the man’s birthday. Then, he gets kidnapped by the same loan shark.

At the location where he’ll be sliced open, Jung Min shows up, turns out he’s the doctor helping the gangster harvest organs. He gives him a present on his last day and as he gets there, he finds out its Park Jae-Yeong. He shows his face to him, the fake Park Jae-Yeong gets scared and says its not him but its no use. Jung Min begins to slice him open without any pain killers, Park Jae-Yeong is then killed by the gangsters.

In the morning, he sees his wife and tells her he no longer has to visit their relative as he’s doing fine. The wife says she wants to leave today and see her mom.

She meets the detective who wanted to show her that man was the fake Park Jae-Yeong but she doesn’t want to know.

Joo-Yeon then leaves the hospital at night taking one step at a time smiling despite what happened.
