THE BOYZ’s Sunwoo agency, ONEHUNDRED, has issued an apology regarding the recent controversy surrounding member Sunwoo’s attitude.

Previously, we reported that a recent video of THE BOYZ’s Sunwoo went viral with people calling his attitude into question. In the video, Sunwoo dropped his wireless earphones and shouted, “My AirPods!” then a bodyguard picked them up, and Sunwoo received the earphones using one hand. This triggered backlash against the idol with many calling into question his manners.

Initially, Sunwoo did address it and explained, “I was trying to find the airpods with my eyes but couldn’t, so I received it when someone picked it up for me, and in that moment, I didn’t bow my head but did say ‘thank you. Even when someone holds the door open for me or anything like that, I always make sure to say thank you.”

He said, “I can’t keep explaining everything forever, but if it looked that way, then that’s my fault and I acknowledge it. I’ll continue to act well so that unfair stories like this don’t come out. I’m polite even to the people who clean at music shows and other places.”

However, despite his explanation, the backlash didn’t die down. Added to this, famous idol-actress Nana also commented on the viral video and said, “he needs to be scolded,” and when she faced backlash from his fans, doubled down on her comments adding fuel to the fire.

Sunwoo attempted to address the situation again to mixed responses, and then on the same night of April the 13th, ONEHUNDRED issued a statement addressing the recent situation with Sunwoo. In their statement, they apologize for not managing Sunwoo properly and state they’ll also be suing malicious commenters.

Below is the agency’s full official statement:

Hello, this is ONEHUNDRED.

We are well aware of the situation involving The Boyz’s member Sunwoo that has been the subject of controversy in the media and various communities over the past few days.

First of all, we deeply apologize for our failure to properly manage our artist regarding issues related to character.

We are also well aware that Sunwoo’s appearance in the video could lead to controversy over his character. Sunwoo, too, was calmly reflecting after communicating with us.

However, we regret that the situation is unfolding differently from the direction in which both the company and the artist were reflecting. We deeply regret that we failed to manage the situation more proactively before it happened and that the artist acted thoughtlessly.

All the artists in our company must be protected and managed by the company. This controversy regarding Sunwoo’s character is entirely the fault of the company, and the artist is currently reflecting even on the aspects he had not previously been aware of. We at ONEHUNDRED will do our best to prevent such negligence from being repeated through communication with our artists. Once again, we bow our heads and apologize.

Lastly, groundless malicious comments are being posted in relation to this situation, and we cannot leave this unchecked for the sake of protecting our artist. We inform you that we are preparing strong legal action regarding this matter.

Thank you.
