Choi Minhwan Attempts To Explain Voice Recording That Exposed Him For Alleged Prostitution Solicitation, Denies He’s Ever Done It, Here Is What He Said
Choi Minhwan, a member of the band FTISLAND, has denied allegations of prostitution, following claims made by his ex-wife, former LABOUM member Yulhee, 56 days ago.
On December 18, Choi Minhwan took to the fan community platform Weverse to address his fans, saying, “To Pri (Primadonna, FTISLAND’s fandom), whom I love the most in this world, I want to say something, regardless of my agency.”
He stated, “Being part of a company and a group has taught me how much there is to protect beyond just my own perspective. As reported by the media, I have never engaged in prostitution. The investigation concluded with a lack of evidence, resulting in no charges. But how does one prove something they never did?”
He further explained, “The hotel and motel mentioned in the recordings were places I went to because I wanted to be alone. I know it’s hard to ask for understanding, but that’s the truth. I wish there was clear evidence, but since there isn’t, I’m sorry. I had no way to explain or defend myself.”
Choi Minhwan continued, “I just want people to know that it’s not true. I have no intention of hiding or running away.”
A fan subsequently questioned him further, asking, “You say you didn’t engage in prostitution, but can you confirm you didn’t visit any establishments?” To this, Choi responded, “I’ve had a vasectomy for a while now. I don’t need condoms, and I always carry a toothbrush because I prioritize hygiene. Why does this curiosity arise?” This unexpected admission of undergoing a vasectomy drew significant attention.
Choi Minhwan married Yulhee in 2018 after a private relationship and became a father to a son before holding their wedding ceremony. The couple later welcomed twin daughters, making them parents to three children. However, the marriage ended after five years, with Choi Minhwan gaining custody of their children.
The issue erupted after Choi’s ex-wife Yulhee publicly exposed the allegations through her YouTube channel on the 24th of October. She shared a recorded conversation showing Choi’s alleged involvement in such establishments.
In response, FNC Entertainment issued a statement to announce his hiatus for the time being, he also stepped down from The Return of Superman. As a result, police also began to investigate the idol.
Later, he was cleared from charges due to insufficient evidence.
