Was Hongki Taking Choi Minhwan’s Side Again? Puzzling New Response To A Fan’s Comment Draws Attention
FT Island’s Lee Hongki has once again drawn attention with remarks that seem to defend Choi Minhwan amid allegations of visiting a prostitution establishment.
On the 26th of October, Lee Hongki commented on the official fan community, Weverse, regarding the allegations against Choi Min Hwan in a response to a fan’s comment.
Previously, on the 25th, Lee posted a cryptic message stating, “It was a personal matter between the two, and it’s come to this. If he did something wrong, he should bow his head and apologize. Still, let’s not all believe things too easily. I have to protect what’s ours and endure; that’s what we do. What I can do is keep moving forward even if I get hit by stones.” Many assumed he was referring to Choi Minhwan, who recently faced allegations made by his ex-wife Yulhee. She released a video on her YouTube channel, claiming Choi had frequented an establishment known for prostitution and included a recorded conversation suggesting his involvement.
Following Lee’s comment, there has been debate online, with some fans speculating that Lee was defending Choi.
Later, Lee deleted his post, but not before another fan commented, “The issue isn’t about verifying the exposé, but whether a father of three was involved in prostitution. There’s plenty of evidence already, and the police have even launched a preliminary investigation. Does anyone want to support the future of someone who frequents such places?” In response, Lee Hongki replied, “What if it’s not prostitution or a prostitution establishment? Can you take responsibility for what you’re saying?” This led some netizens to question his defense of Choi, expressing disappointment.
Meanwhile, Choi Minhwan is currently under investigation on charges of violating the Prostitution Punishment Act. Seoul’s Gangnam Police Station has launched a preliminary investigation. Choi has also stepped down from KBS2’s The Return of Superman and will either perform backstage or not participate in FT Island’s scheduled concerts as he halts all activities.
